Color Enhancers On Rats

I have a milksnake and ballpython. Could I use color enhancer on their food? I was thinking a small amount of repashy superpig but I don’t know if it’s safe for snakes. I need it do more research but does anyone know if it’s safe to put some on a rat for my snakes? Any info would be helpful thanks

Rodents (rat/mice) are a complete source of nutrition for your snake. No supplements are needed.

If you want to brighten up the colors for pictures: you can use photo editing software.

If they are brightly coloured snakes the best thing to do is simply swap to orchid/ repti bark substrate which is marvellous for enhancing colours !

I have no idea what's in repashy superpig...but if it's safe for other small animals, it's likely safe to feed to rodents...how much it will actually enhance a snake's color
that eats the rodent though is doubtful. Personally I steer clear of any & ALL fake food colorings in pet foods...& red dyes in dogfood have been considered as toxic to
rodents as well as to snakes that later consumed them, in part because it was a chemical source that their bodies cannot eliminate or process. (like chocolate is for
dogs...it contains a chemical that builds up & is toxic to them) Red beets are often used to enhance color in "natural" foods (for humans) & might also be safe for
rodents to consume as well as for the snakes later (the ultimate consumers). I take it you are disappointed that your snakes aren't a brighter color as a few others
are? Remember that some photos you may be comparing them to might also be "enhanced" as well. BTW, smearing repashy superpig ON a rodent will likely make
a snake think twice about consuming it, but you might push a little into the mouth of the dead rodent (it will be stiff, you may have to pry the teeth apart, then close
them after) this also works for needed medications, btw. In any event, I very much doubt that this will noticeably change your snake's color one bit, after all the effort.

A site said it benefits the health of the reptile even if there’s no noticeable effects? Idk if it’s true though but like I said I’d need more research. The color enhancer was just an idea that would maybe make my snake a little brighter. Thank y’all

Feel free to disagree with me on this y'all, but to me, a "quality" animal is about SOOOO much more than just their color anyway. I really don't get the
obsession with having the brightest neon-color snake around...I keep snakes for their personality & behavior, not strictly their beauty...& as flashy as many
captive-bred animals are, I defer to "mother nature" to have gotten in right...what survives in the real world. If all you care about is a work of art, why not
stick to inanimate art work...you don't have to feed it, take it to the vet, keep it warm enough or clean up it's poo-piles? And you don't need to breed for
generations to get a fantastic color pattern that comes with a side order of head wobbles or other health vulnerabilities. Pardon my rant...
