    Talking Saving sheds

Okay DD is getting ready to shed again. What is the best way to preserve the shed so that Cody can take it to school for show & tell?

man, that would be a cool show-and-tell.

i just dry them and stick them in a drawer.

    Re: Saving sheds

Well, get the shed out of the tank as soon as you can.. preferably when it's still moist. I unroll (if necessary) the moist skin and drape it over something so that only either end is touching something (not the middle, as the skin tends to stick to whatever it dries on) leave it over night, and carefully remove it from whatever it's draped on.

I save most of my sheds.. I have boa sheds wrapped around my bed and my curtain rods, kingsnake sheds hanging off bookshelves.. etc etc.

    Re: Saving sheds

Thanks, Shelby. Anyone want to send some our way the next time your BP's shed. Cody is working on a science fair project. While DD's are great, we have yet to get a complete shed, and he's almost an adult, we'd like to show the progression. PM if you can he would appreciate the help

    Re: Saving sheds

I usually let them dry out and then seal them in on a ziplock bag....unless they left me a present in it

Each snake has had it's own shed bag, but that may change very soon. I will probably still keep my first snake's shed skin though, considering I have his baby sheds, and he's over a year old now.

He's also like 3 feet long now.

    Re: Saving sheds

I saw a sign in a pet shop recently that was asking anyone who had unwanted snake sheds, would they bring them in to the pet shop. I never asked at the time, but it's kinda been bugging me - what do they want with these? I can understand snake owners keeping the sheds from their own snakes, but do they have some other value for a pet shop?
