Weight/Record keeping tips?

So with my recent new addition I have decided to start keeping a record that my previous two snakes did not warrant(In as much detail) as I could remember most things about them, however now that I have gotten 3 more to make a total of five my faith in my memory must wane.

1. When getting weights on new additions do you way them after they do their first feeding or do you get their current weight immediately before placing them in their new homes?

2. Do you prefer written records or digital? ( I am leaning towards google docs but I will probably end up keeping a backup composition and binder notebook. of Printed sheets.)

3. What about vet records? Do you keep all of them or just the most recent? I personally keep my most recent records for all animals tacked onto a corkboard we have attached on the outside of a cabinet in the kitchen. Along with receipts/prescribed meds if needed and last but not least for my dogs their vaccine & Licenses

Me personally i just put there weights name and date in my phone under my notes its the safiest place for me. Its personal prefefence i guess. Also i usually weigh every couple weeks. I do so like a day before feed or 2 days before feed to make sure i get more accurate reading or after they have a poop.

I just write things down. I won't lose them if I break my phone or get a new one, I can easily compare dates/weights.

I have an app called SnakeKeeper and if I need to I can export a file with every single meal, poop, shed, weight and length my snake has ever had with all the details. You can add multiple snakes to the app and each will have its own file. I’m loving it!

I built a spreadsheet in Excel that I use for all my record keeping, I keep one copy saved blank and then have one filled out for each snake saved. I keep a printed copy for each snake on a clipboard stored in my reptile room/office so I can easily write in info as needed and I eventually transfer the written info into digital on my pc.

The spreadsheet includes: name (obviously necessary), morph, gender, date when they were purchased/adopted, who or where they came from, and how much I spent, and that's just the header. Then I have 5 columns that include: the date weighed and the weight, date of feeding, whether or not they ate, what they were fed, and because I'm kinda OCD, how much the feeder weighed.

Any time I get a new addition I take a weight down as soon as I get them home. I also weigh the day before they get fed every week, it's a little excessive, but it only takes a few minutes and it gives me peace of mind.

The reason I like to weigh as soon as I get them is I was "gifted" a overweight female, like hips at her tail and scale spread from the neck down. I weighed her on day one at 940 grams, 10 days later, right before her first feeding with me, after a massive poo and a sigh of relief she weighed only 855. Her last owner was feeding her pretty heavily and I knew the weight that she dropped from that BM was damn near the weight of her last meal. Was it vital information? Not necessarily, but it drew me a picture of where she came from and what I needed to do to get her back on track.

As for vet records, the few I have get filed in my desk, by snake, so if I ever need the info I've got it.

Thanks for the information guys I will keep a notebook with a google doc spreadsheet(Its free lol) with weight/meal/dates I would do morphs but as I am not breeding I don't think its too terribly needed.(Yet)

I never weigh an animal after they have been fed. You are not getting a true weight if you do. I prefer to weigh an animal after they defecate, that way you are weighing your animal and not the prey digesting in their stomach.
