Question about infrared heat guns and foil tape.

So im curious because of the fact the foil tape reflects. am i going to get an accurate reading off my plastic tub?. because my beam shoots up the in air if i read temp on heat mat which is full of foil tape. so i can re use it. If i hit a spot without foil tape on the buttom of pad outside enclosure and then hit foil tape outside i get a huge temp diff. Also is my gun reading my tub or the mat temps when i check inside my enclosure.

Check the temp of the bottom of the tub on the INSIDE. The outside temps don’t matter.

I know. I was making an example of the foil tape making a huge diff in temp. I want to make sure the temps are reading right inside the container. That the infrared thermometor gun is reading the plastic not the heat pad or foil tape. Thats what i was trying to get at

I don’t think the temp gun reads through the plastic....I know it doesn’t read through glass, even though the beam goes through it.

The laser beam has nothing to do with the temp reading, it is only there as a pointer. My temp gun has a button to turn off the laser and it will still read temps. Foil tape won't make a difference
