How to secure a tub?

So after the scare of my BP escaping(safely found later that day) we've been using weights on his tub lid since to prevent him from pushing it open. It has latches on the sides, but they've grown weak and he can easily push them off.

So what are some ideas to better secure his tub? We're using small lifting weights on the corners but it's a pain to remove and replace them every time I pop in to check temps, give water, etc. Anyone have better ideas for how to secure the lid of a tub?

I secure my tubs with the big giant office clips. It is not recommended to use weights because the snake can still try to push up the lid a little, tires out and the weight can crush (?) its snout or head, or so I heard on reddit. Another way is to use velcro on the lid to the tub. I did that originally and lets just say, it works too well so I would not recommend that either. Some people uses those luggage straps alone or in combination with clips. I have not tried because I find it more annoying than the clips. So clips works best with the tubs that latches on the sides or one of those waterproof tubs that have locking latches on all sides of the tubs (This is the more expensive option and most liked by those who used them). I use about 10 big clips on a 41 at tub for my bp.

I would not recommend any of this for any snake with a skinny head, like a colubrid or smaller snakes. My Children Python started out in a tub, locked and clipped all around, and it still somehow managed to escape TWICE without so much of a scratch.

I agree, binder clips are some of the best things to use, so long as the tub isnt a snap on secure type lid.

I use luggage straps for mine, but if your tub is pretty little you might just have to be mindful of how big or small some straps can be if you go with that option- I have a 32 quart tub, and have to loop mine under a piece of melamine or they're not snug enough. Other than that, they're very easy to clip and un-clip when you want to get in and out of your tub, and you can get pretty creative with colors and designs.
