    Heat bulb exploded?

I was switching out bulbs (they are both 75 watt) and I didn't even have the new one in for five minutes until it just exploded! The lamp supports 100 watts and I had my red infrared one in previously. Then I put in the infrared black spot bulb and it exploded. Anybody know why that happened?

That happened to me when I was misting the tank. The heat from the lamp and the wetness apparently didn’t mix well. Scared the crap outta me!

    Another reason to use CHE's.

Also bulbs usually die or explode at the most inopportune time, like Sunday evening after all the stores have closed, and you don't have a spare handy.

I've read somewhere that ceramic heaters can explode as well. Is that true?

Since there is no vacuum in a CHE-I don't know how it could explode (without improper manufacture).

I did have a ZooMed CHE rust so bad at the screw-in base connector that it broke off and left exposed wires. No explosion though.
