Please help! My snake soak in water bowl again...mites come back?
Hi guys! I got my Suriname boa this March around 6 month ago. After I got him around a week I found him soak in water and found a mite. Then I treat him and his enclosure with PAM and reptile spray, also changed his bedding from forest floor to paper towel. The mites gone soon and I never seen any or he soak in water for months. Last week I changed his bedding to repti chips and yesterday evening I saw him soak in water bowl! I moved him out and didn't see any mites inside the bowl. Today morning he soaked himself in the bowl again. I checked but I think the dark dots in the water are more like just some tiny parts the coconut bedding. I also spray reptile spray on a paper towel and wiped his body but didn't find mites.I wonder is it possible that mites may come back after this long time? I never been to reptile show or bring any new snake back during this period. Thank you so much! I'm so stressful now.

What was the source of the Repti-Chips? Did you have them during your last outbreak?

Thank you so much for your reply! I got that in late March, but my other two ball pythons always use it until now and never have mites signs. My Suriname boa used paper towel until last week, so I feel confused.

Some Boas do love soaking to be fair ... I've never had a Royal who soaked though ..

Well, keep checking closely, just in case: you're the only one who can know for sure if any mites have survived. Hope not...

Many Boas soak before and during the shed phase .. there could be a couple of months in between sheds ..

Thank you so much! Today when I got back he's not in the water, but after a few hours, I found him soak his belly in the water I'll keep watching him.

Thank you so much! His eyes are still clear and he didn't soak when he was shedding before... I think I'm too stressful and sensitive now, I keep checking if he's in the water bowl every a few minutes.

What is your humidity and temps in the cage i had a period where my snake soaked on and off for days at a time and it turned out to be a touch to hot. Now he just soaks when he goes to the bathroom he :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:s in the water. He likes to be in the water I’ve had him checked by the vet no mites so I’m thinking. This may be the problem. Trust me I know what your going through I had this exact same question about 2 weeks ago hope this helps!
