    Exclamation Tiger Bit Me Twice

Ok The Little Thing Keeps Bitting Me. Is This Ok Or Should I Be Worried? He Aste Four Days Ago And I Have Not Held Him For Like A Week. Why Would He Be So Aggresive?

    Is he nearing a shed?

Do you have lingering scent of mouse/rat on your hands?

Are you reaching in from above to get him?

    Re: Tiger Bit Me Twice

how long have you had him? if this is a new snake say 1 month or so, he is still settling in and might be scared/stressed a little. double check all of your husbandry temps, hides, water bowl, humidity. make sure the hides are small so they fit tight inside of them. he should calm down after a few weeks, keep regular handling sessions brief but regular. some snakes just don't want to be touched, some don't care! my wife "sweet talks" them she swears it works! i guess my voice isn't sweet enough! lol

Talking Re: Tiger Bit Me Twice

Well I Have Had Tiger Two Weeks Now, I Dont Know If He Is Near A Shed But He Has Ate Two Full Grown Mice(frozen) And I Have Not Touched A Mouse Ever!!! I Use Tongs. Iknow That It Is A Little Soon To Hold Him But I Had To Clean His Tank. As For The Sweet Talking Thing I Dont Think It Will Work For Me Either. His Temp In The Cage Is At 85 Hot And 80 Cold. Humidty I Dont Know I Am Picking Up The Gauge Today As Well As A Humidifier.

get the temps up 90-94 hot / 82-84 cool!!! use digital thermometers and hydrometers to check these temps. 2 weeks is nothing, i have one i've had about a year and she is a little nippy.

    Re: Tiger Bit Me Twice

If its a baby, its normal for it to nip at ya! They usually out grow it, unless they are just naturally mean! Provided he is SETTLED in, you can handle him for like ten minutes a day. If he bites, don't be put off! Use gloves if you need to and pick him up gently from behind!

    Re: Tiger Bit Me Twice

The gloves keep you from getting bitten(Remeber to get snake handling gloves as opposed to some other type). He will eventually get used to you handling him on a regular basis and would not see you as a threat any more. You should then be able to handle him without your gloves.
