Just Got To Rant A Bit
For anyone thinking about getting ANY pet, please don't do so unless you want to ensure that you can give the animal the best treatment possible! I was really pissed this morning.
I turned on the local radio and was surprised to hear that a yellow anaconda was found.
There is this big sea/lake that a lot of families go on trips to. It's also a place for fishermen.
Anyway, apparently a fisher saw a 2,5m (8,2 feet) snake in the water but it fled when he tried to approach it. He called the fire department as well as the regulatory agency. A specialist for reptiles identified the animal as a yellow anaconda. The sea is now evacuated until the animal is found and rescued. It seems so be at the bottom of the sea where it's warmer because it's only 62 degrees outside.
It is assumed that animal was a pet before being abandoned at the lake. I really hope that the stupid owner gets caught. I don't understand why someone would do this!
If you can't take care of the pet, then don't get one in the first place. Sure things can change but that is no reason to abandon the animal. It can hurt others and itself. Find another owner or something but don't do this.
I really hope the snake is ok.

It may have simply escaped versus being turned loose. Snakes are masters at getting out of their enclosures.
Hopefully the anaconda is found and moved into a more suitable location before it gets cold.

Re: Just Got To Rant A Bit
Well, as far as I know nobody said that his snake was missing. And the snake also wasn't registered under a name.
Anyway, the snake has been found and is now in a big terrarium in a wildlife and nature reserve where educated people take care of it. It was caught laying on the sand in the sun when the fire department had already given up because it was likely that the snake had already died due to the cold.
At least the snake got a happy end. Visitors can now take a look at the snake when they take a trip through the reserve.

Re: Just Got To Rant A Bit
Do you think it should be required to microchip them like some people do dogs?
If found and reported missing with the chip ID number then is returned to the owner who will try to improve on keeping the snake locked in?
If found and not reported then fines hit hard?
Makes the owner more accountable in a way? IDK just a though.
