New Bp Questions

Hello,
My name is Ben and I am a new member and this is my first post. First, let me just say what a great site this is and how nice it is to finally find some good honest advice. I have had all kinds of snakes and reptiles in the past, however this is my first snake on my own. I got him about a week ago and his is already shaping up to be a pretty good snake. My concern is that at night / early morning he digs himself under the newpaper and stays there until the next day. He comes out on his own the next day and acts fine until again late at night he goes under the paper. I have never had a snake do this before, should i be concerned???? Thanks

Sorry to riddle you with questions but to be of more help folks will want to know more:

What kind of enclosure do you have?
How many hides are you using?
What kind of temperatures are maintained?

Pending your answers the short answer is he's probably fine and just acclimating -especially if this is his first week in his new digs. Leave him alone as much as possible during that time and I am sure things will work out from there

I agree with Smulkin. If your temps & humid are right, then just let him "chill" for a week or 2. You will know when he's ready to play.

Thanks guys!!! He is in a 20 gallon tank, I have a under tank heater and a basking lamp. He also has a blue daytime light and a red night light. The temps are 88-90 on the hot side and 75-79 on the cool side. He has two hides one warm and one cold. Thanks guys let me know if I need something different. I'll post pics soon.

I'd try and get those temps up about 5 degrees. I do 82-84 on one side and 92-94 on the other for my colony.

Temps below 80 can sometimes cause ball pythons to fast and dips into the mid to low 70's can lead to respiratory infections.
