Exclamation Over fed ? Bloated? Idk! Please help!

this is Monty. I recently switched him over to eating f/t fuzzies from rat pups. He gets feed about every 10 days. He's a great eater never misses a meal. Just in the last week he has started to look "fat". More twords the rear. I just gave him a warm bath to see if he would poo and he did. So I know he's not blocked. My question is does he look normal to you guys? Or am I over feeding him? Or does he just need to poo more? He just looks so stretched out in his behind. Am I overthinking this? Or does he looked bloated? Should I be concerned or any suggestions? He is about 10months to 1 year old. Only about a foot long.

He totally looks bloated to me too...since you know he's not constipated, you should get him to a qualified herp vet a.s.a.p. to see what's going on...does he feel
squishy in that area? Could be fluid...?

How much are you feeding him (every 10 days)? I can't imagine you are feeding him enough to do that...I think something else is going on.

What did his stool look like? hard or soft? If you can, "next time", save it for vet to check...it has to be fresh (& probably not underwater but you can ask?).

Yeah, looks bloated to me too, but it could be the picture. Can you get a pic of him on a flat surface and taken from above?

Here's another pic of him. He's very active and his stool was white and looked like his normal ball of stool.

and also, the bloating was only in the very back and then when I fed him again now he's bloated all the way to the middle Of his back? Is what I'm feeding him too big? This was only his second fuzzy.

He's either very fat or very bloated from gas or fluid...no way to tell from just an online photo. For a snake that is only a year old or less, you'd have to feed
him a ridiculous amount of food to cause this, since they are normally growing lengthwise at the same time. I wonder if there may be a metabolic problem.

Those creases on his side are typical of snakes that are obese but I'm not convinced it's fat. You say he's "very active"? Is he your first snake? (any others to
compare activity levels to?) I suspect he's in a lot of discomfort...I know I would be...he's not drinking salt-water, is he? (do you use a water softener at your
place?) With snakes, you have to read between the lines...increased activity can mean he's hurting.

I don’t think this has anything to do with prey size or overfeeding, I’ve seen a stuffed ball python and it doesn’t look like this, he looks way too swollen and puffy. You need to get him to a Herp vet ASAP.

I completely agree with the others. I have no hands on experience with what you're dealing with, so obviously can't help. But, since we're only viewing online there's only so much we can do. If it were my pet, I'd be getting into the vet asap.
I wish you the very best of luck. Please keep us posted.

Can you show a picture of him next to an outline* of his typical prey size? (or both sizes that he's been fed?) *I suggest an outline rather than the actual prey so he
doesn't get any ideas to grab it...

I typically feed snakes not by weight, but by the middle of the rodent being slightly less that the widest part of the middle of the snake...but if your snake is already "fat",
this method won't help, you'll continue to feed him too much. Again though, I'm NOT saying it's your doing at all...it may not be.

I still think he should see a vet ASAP, especially because it's rapidly getting worse, from what you said, and food just doesn't do that.

Has he been exposed to any sort of chemicals? cleaning products?

Again, we cannot fix or even solve this online, please call a vet now.

When I hold him he's squirming around. He stays in his hot hide most of the time. He still switches from his cool to his warm. He is my first snake but I also rescued another one that is about 5ft long since I got him back in December. His tank set up has a under tank heater on his hot side with a hide and the cool side has a fogger that only goes off 30 seconds on every hour with another hide. He did great on rat pinkies. I've only noticed this since I started him on fuzzies. He is squishy. Not hard. I appreciate all the info you are giving me! I'm going to see if I can find a herp vet in my area.
