Is my BP exploring or hungry?

He is at least 6 y.o. About 4 feet long. We took him out of a small tub the previous owner kept him in and temporarily put him in a 20gal tank. (We are transitioning him to bigger enclosures without throwing him from a 12” small tub to a 30-40 gal tank) I’m not sure if he’s recently gotten comfortable with all the new space, or if he’s humgry again. The previous owner said he eats 3 small mice every two weeks. He just ate a week ago exactly and digested his food three days ago. Last time he ate (second day in the new tank) it took him almost two weeks to digest. Now I’m still nervous about picking him up since Iv always been deathly afraid of snakes 😬 but I’m slowly getting used to him. I picked him up once and he tried slithering back into the tank so I let him be. But now, a week after eating, he roams the cage all night. Starting around 7pm. Constantly trying to find a way out. The thing is, he is calm and relaxed and in his hide when I get home from work. As soon as I start walking Around my room, he starts wandering. For hours and hours. When he starts being more active when I’m around, could this mean he’s hungry again?

Mine definitely explores alot more when he is hungry. Otherwise he is kinduvva lazy fat boy. But he gets fed once a week on a rat. He used to be picky about only eating mice. i rubbed pinky mice on the rats and it did the trick.

Olive ( My ball python ) usually only comes out at night to explore when she is starting to get hungry. Other than that she usually only pokes her head out of her hide to watch what I'm doing.

Mine sometimes have the tendency to cruise, but I believe one or two might be looking for the ladies. I have only boys. Lmao

Judging by the size you could probably feed him on small rat every week instead of three every two weeks.
