Was considering getting a new snake this month, but not like this. A former co-worker informed me of a snake needing a home. The owner claimed it kept biting her and she was going to put it outside. Knowing I love my Ball Pythons and had the time and space to take one in and quarantine it she contacted me. It's a small normal type female that has a bad shed stuck on her which you can see in the picture, though no retained eye caps like the first one I was given thank goodness.. Got her out of the tank she came with and into a bin with good humidity. Was tol

d she only ate live and hadn't been fed in a while so I did offer her a mouse and she took it pretty quick. Excited to have her and give her a life better then what she had.

. So far no striking so its a promising start.

Will we ever run out of clueless & irresponsible reptile keepers? That's how I took in a very sick bearded dragon many years ago...the same threat to
"just dump him in the desert" if I didn't take him meant that he came home with me, even though I had no knowledge of beardies at the time, only lots
of snakes. I'm so glad you're able to take in this sweet snake: while it's a lifesaver for the animal being rescued, it also does really awesome things for
our own hearts in the process. Some of the most interesting animals in my life have been the ones I didn't know I needed & never planned on having.

So happy you are giving her a good new home now. It gets bad when the local pet store starts offering you rescues. LOL.

I actually work as a lower level manager at a PetSmart, and while I am not a fan of many of our policy's and literally want to rip out my hair when we get sick or small animals from :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:ty vendors I really am there for the animals and so are most of my crew. I do my best to help educate customers and am constantly studying myself. If I don't know an answer I have no problem pulling out my phone for research on the floor or calling someone who has more knowledge then me in the subject. Working there is how I have gotten most of my reptiles lol. Owners claiming they don't have time, or the animal is aggressive. Being a huge reptile family I have 4 other people at home that can switch on/off lighting, mist cages, and do checks when needed. I'm pretty lucky.

The kids named her Astrid and she has now been here a week. She weighed in at 99 grams, eats great and we got all that stuck shed off. The last bit in the picture came off this evening. Ironically for a snake that was going to be turned loose for biting, she has never struck at me once. Already so in love with this little lady and so grateful she made her way to me.

That's typical for me as well. I'm quite sure snakes know who they're safe with by the way we touch them. Some people have so little empathy...?
