Hey all, you can call me Ange. On Sunday I bought my first-ever snake. Her name's Olivier (if anyone can guess the reference, good job), and she's a Female ball python, yellowbelly. She's from a July '17 clutch.
While she's my first snake, I'm not new to the world of herps. While I was in college (graduated in '17) I volunteered at the Herpetarium there. Mostly it was folks in the biology or zoology majors working there so my English major self stood out like a sore thumb.Anyway, the herpetarium had a lot of different kinds of reptiles. Due to the space they were kept in and the limited amount of resources they have, not all the animals were cared for as well as they could have been.
So, since about my sophomore year I've been obsessively researching herp (particularly ball python) care, waiting for when I had my own place and the money to invest, and...ta-da!
She's the only snake I'm planning on keeping right now, since I don't have a ton of space in the apartment, and I'm not planning on breeding her.
