    Problem feeder advice?

So, I've been having trouble convincing my bp to eat lately. I moved him into a new tub in February, and I would say that's the cause of it except he ate twice after the move and then went off his feed. He normally gets two adult mice once a week, and at last weigh he clocked in at 1353g, so I'm not excessively worried about an extended fast, but I'd obviously like to do something about it. I gave him a month to rest without anything offered, as I heard that had worked to get snakes eating again, but he ignored what I offered last week. I also tried moving him into a separate container for feeding, which didn't work either. His hot side thermostat reads at 97F, and his cool side is at 87F. Humidity is 70-80%.

Anyone have any advice or other options to try?

It's a 1300+ male which is a good weight for a male, the key with male considering their metabolism is to offer a small rat 55 to 75 grams every 10 to 14 days.

If you feed more they will fast, and at that size he could easily go a year without food.

Additionally he can very well still have breeding on his mind even without the presence of female since he is sexually mature.

On the top of everything else your temps are way off either you keep the animal in the mid 80's with no hot spot or you provide a hot spot and lower temps 78/82 on the cool side and 88/92 on the warm side max.

Oh and thermostat control temps, thermometer read temps.

    Re: Problem feeder advice?

Thanks for your advice! I've lowered the temps down to what you said - the thermostats I use display the current temp where the sensor is, placed between the heat pad and the bottom of the tub. (I also have a temp gun for surface and ambient temps)

If it is a breeding fast (fraid he's gonna be disappointed if that's the case, he's the only snake I've got) how long can I expect it to last?
