Just to clarify....i generally feed adult mice that are in the 20-22 gram range...not the older mice that can possibly be 30-40 grams...
Jamie, what size do you consider a small rat...60 grams??
I buy from Rodent Pro. They consider a small rat 45-84 grams. Now I have to say, I have never weight the rats and that is a pretty big size range. I feed all my sub adults and adults 1 small rat every 7 days (and sometimes I give them a week break). On Adam's advice, I am going to keep an eye on the breeding size females and feed them extra if they appear to still be looking for food. Seems to work for me though!
I usually weigh the mice to get a general idea of their weight.... especially if they look big or small... but I am pretty good at 'eyeballing' their weight now everyone follows Adam's advice.....I am going with his advice on the appropriate number of mice to feed my female, since I dont feed rats This number works great....I have been alternating between 3 and 4 every week....I want to put on that 100 g per month...but I dont want to cause a fast

I am learning each and every day what that wise, old (hahah) Adam once said: "Go with what works for you and your snakes!". Or maybe it was Confucious. Who knows!?
