Question on length to mass
This is nothing I’m worried about. More of something I got to wondering. And maybe start a discussion. I know that each animal will reach there own mass and length. But I still wonder, is there a mass that is normal to see a BP be at certain lengths?
I got to thinking this when I decided to take a tape to my largest girl who is right at 5’ now, at about 3.5yo. I got to thinking of how heavy is an appropriate weight for her length. She just layed a clutch a few weeks ago and went from 2300g after her prelay fast but before laying, down to 1700g after laying. But has taken 2 meals of 100g rats each time since then. So she looks skinny right now. I’ve been wondering at what weight she will get to this time before laying. Will it be 2300, 2500, or closer to 3000g. She was touching 2500g before her fasting.

This is the girl on her eggs. I figure there has to be atleast one snake picture if talking about and discussing them.

I don't really think there's a 'normal' mass to length. I think it really depends on how well the snake feeds and how much the owner feeds it. I like to feed my females pretty heavy if they will take it, they get all my leftover rats that the other snakes won't eat and some will eat 2-3 rats back to back. Others are real picky or will fast for a long time or will only take mice. And some go through phases where they will pound a lot of rats and then slow down quite a bit. I think if they all ate like a hungry dog we could control it better LOL. In general though for females they say the more you feed them the more eggs they will produce and the bigger they will get. For males most people usually feed them sparingly to keep them between 1000 - 1500 grams. A lot of times I'll even skip feeding my males, especially the larger ones, at least until they start looking a bit skinny.

Re: Question on length to mass
Can I Ask you, what does that mean, that you Feed heavy your females? You Feed them more often then every 7 Days, or you give them more than One prey per feeding? Do you Feed more than 10% body weight ratio at a time? Im asking because I would like to bring my girl to breeding size, but I Wanna do it right. Thanks!
