    Morph prices

I am absolutely enchanted by the looks of some of these bp morphs. As gorgeous as a creature can get in my opinion. But oh the prices on some of them. Upwards of 50K on some of them.

My question is, how many generations and years will it take for these designer morphs to become available for the average consumer for the purposes of keeping it as a pet and not breeding it?

Hmm.. I'm no expert, but I'd say it'll take longer than it would for most snake species since BPs are so widely popular, and they are slow breeders. The albino ball has held it's price well for many years.

One thing you can look into is purchasing hets and breeding the morphs yourself. Hets are much cheaper.

It's sad to see that some snakes have become a buisness to some people to see who has the best morph and they just breed them to sell them and make money.

    It's sad?
I think it's great, I hope the prices on morphs always stay in a fairly high stance ...
It's great for the hobby, because not only is it a collection, but an invest as well.
Who wouldn't want to make a few extra bucks from their Ball Pythons?
You wouldn't want your collection of snakes paying themself off?

And I highly doubt anyone gets into Ball Pythons "Just to breed them and make money" -
It's not as easy as you'd think to keep and breed a vast collection of Ball Pythons -
To make a "business" out of your collection and actually make profit, you need to have hundreds of snakes ...
Do you seriously think it's easy taking care of hundreds of snakes?
Do you think someone would take care of them, if they didn't have passion for the snakes to begin with?

There is not one breeder that I know of, that got into Ball Pythons, just to make money from them, and that's it.
If anyone actually does go into Ball Pythons just to make money, they'll quickly realize it isn't as easy as they would think.

Also, I HOPE Morphs will keep a decently high-price on them ... Atleast $1000 each ...
    Why you might ask?
No, not because I want to make a profit, because if someone is going to spend $1000 on a snake, we all know they're going to take care of it.
The chances of someone purchasing a $1000 snake and not taking care of it are slim.

If someone truely wants to get into morphs, you don't have to spend thousands.
Start small, get an Albino Het pair for $650 - and produce countless numbers of Albinos yourself.
Heck wouldn't you want an Albino you produced yourself anyways?

Also, the more people that start producing Captive Breed Ball Pythons -
Hopefully the less Wild-caught Ball Pythons will be exported.

You have NO CLUE what you are talking about. I own a business breeding ball pythons, I have many many morphs, I have yet to make a dime of profit breeding snakes.

    How ya like them apples?

    Re: Morph prices

Well I'll speak as a customer of one of these breeders (and a lot of them I dare say). If it's only a "business" why do they go out of their way to help us learn, answer questions in a forum, by email and on the phone that go way beyond "sales patter" and are never compensated to them properly in the sale of the snake. I've had breeders give me advice and share their wisdom that have never seen dime one from me yet, maybe never will, who knows but they still take their time to help me with my snakes. Not one of which came from them mind you but they are still just as concerned that my pet store snake thrives and does well for me. Heck they give us advice about breeding which is basically "breeding" their own competition albeit in a very small, small way.

Other than hets there is also some co-dominants that aren't completely out of reach and most breeders offer some sort of payment plan.
