    Hide guy

So I’ve had my new BP about ten days now... I know it really takes them time to settle in and adjust and I have left him alone other than to change his water and apply some water to the substrate for humidity control when he’s tucked away in a hide. I fed him last week for the first time and he ate and he will be offered food again on Sunday.

For the first few few days he was naturally all over and adjusting then he seemed to settle in and get into a routine of climbing and laying on the trees I have in there at night close to the heat lamp. He didn’t use the warm hide at all the first week. Then about 2 days ago he must have discovered the warm hide and the belly heat and I guess or hope how cozy it is in there and from what I can tell he hasn’t left.

No more nihht exploring and i and I haven’t seen him in 2 days like I used to. I loved seeing him stretched out and about the tank but I also know a hidden ball is a happy ball and I want him happy.

He could very well be moving when I’m passed out at night or have been moving to get to what he thought was the only heat source but now found a much better one.

I guess i jist wanted to run it by the good folks here for assurance.

Im tempted to just lift the hide to check on him. But I really don’t want to startle him or make him think his hides aren’t a safe secure place for him. I’m thinking I’ll keep an eye and try and offer food come Sunday and that will be my sign.

He's probably digesting now that he found the heat source. All of mine don't explore at night for a few days after feeding.

Thats interesting and makes a lot of sense thank you!

he ate last Sunday into Monday and just seemed to discover the hide maybe Tuesday/ Wednesday. So that time frame would match.

I guess when we say “explore” they are really hunting. And there is no need for a full snake to hunt right?
