The name of this forum should be changed
The name of this forum should be changed from the current "Red Tail Boas" to "Boa Constrictors". It is agreed by all i think that "red tail" is not the scientific name of the snake, it is just a term created by the pet trade. So why to use it as if it was the name of the snake? This is a big snake forum, it should be teaching people the right things. I know that my suggestion won,t be even taken into consideration because i made the suggestion, and i am considered by some in this forum to be the bad guy only because i speak my mind and express my opinions freely as i want not as others want. So many admins and members here don,t care about the information or the suggestion itself, rather they care about who made them

I dont find that to be true at all.
However, when reading something regarding science, factual information or anything regarding the well-being or care of the animals, yes I absolutely look at the name of who wrote it. I will certainly take something more seriously if a member who has EARNED my trust wrote it than if a user has proven to be unreliable or I don't have enough interaction with to have determined my level of trust.
Some on this forum are fantastic, some tend to just regurgitate stuff they saw along the way and repost it and some, well, I simply don't rely on for quality info. But that is MY choice as to who I learn from and who I read with a grain of salt.
As for the admins, they work their butts off so we have this forum. They do it because they love these animals and want to help make this hobby enjoyable and respected rather than feared and alienated. They work diligently to make this forum informative, friendly and SAFE for all ages. Without them, this forum doesn't exist, nevermind get voted best forum of 2017!!
So instead of bashing the admins, how bout giving them the thanks they deserve....

Look, i brought something which is indisputable and obvious. The admins don,t have to thank me, just say this is a fair point and we will work on changing the name of this forum. What,s wrong with that? If they work their butts off so we have this forum. They do it because they love these animals and want to help make this hobby enjoyable and respected as you have suggested, they would correct an obvious false thing

For what it's worth ...I see where you are coming from as regards the red tail bit part ... I actually dislike the use of Ball pythons as we in the UK call them by their proper name Royal Pythons
Royals also sounds so much more classy as well IMHO
We don't call Red Bamboo Rat snakes - Crazy Psychos or Corns snakes - Big colourful worms so why all Royals after something that some of them do occasionally ( ball up ) ??
Loads of things bug me ...I'm constantly reading in text books that snakes are EGG LAYERS , plain and simple ...never mentions the millions of live bearing snakes out there

And there are things I would change too. But we have a group in place responsible for making those calls. If we catered to every individuals needs we would have a jumbled mess of nothing-at-all. Things are categorized and organized for the ease of the members.
I have tried to encourage you to stay, learn and be a positive part of this forum, yet you continue to bash the forum and admins on this thread and another. I honestly feel like you are going to rock the boat regardless of what the context is. So...maybe go create your own forum of misinformation and drama?

Ball python is only a descriptive name of a certain behaviour of the snake. The scientific name is python regius, royal python. Red tail is only a descriptive name of a certain body part of the snake! And because we have dark red tail(BCC) and light red tail(BCI) and Boas with a very dark tail, not red at all rather almost black tail (BCO), using this pet trade term creates a confusion

Who cares. There are so many incorrect uses for snakes like Red tails, Ball pythons, Columbians, etc. It's like the millions of people you see just throw a fit when someone says red tail about their pet store bought common boa. And dont forget, black tails also belong to Boa Constrictor Longicauda, not just Occidentalis. And actually, the true nature IMG boa is a BCL. Like here is my nicely blackening up BCL boy. He's only het for anery and only 1.5 years old. He has a lot of color changing to do still. Meltzer/Lincoln line BCL.

Lol and dont even get me started on not caring. I just have more or less given up on certain things and just let it be. If someone gives bad info, then it is partially the person who is listenings fault as well as he/she should do more research and not just believe one person. No one is a complete expert and knows all. Everyone keeps learning new stuff all the time.

The name of this forum should be changed
I was going to say when mentioned that all black tails are not all bco, when my img is a boa imperata and was proven by Pete Kahl to be genetic trait from a litter of normal looking anery bci in 2007 and all ready said the Bcl actually darken with age dramatically to be really dark as adults

I’m new here and trust me, I don’t know anyone or much...
but i I do know this... if you make a suggestion and what it to be taken seriously your best bet is to present it logically, respectfully and with solid backing...
your initial suggestioj may may be fair but then you roll into the admins and how no one likes you or cares for you and honestly your message is lost. What’s so hard with making a statement and leaving it that.
Thats how respect is earned.
Thats like when when people say “no offense” then they offend you. Or “with all due respect” and then disrespect you.
I dont knkw you from a hole in the wall and would have read your post and said hmm wonder if that’s the truth because I don’t know anything about boas. Instead I’m like oh this is a guy no one likes who’s trying to make waves and find anything on this great forum to rip for attention.
Again, take my words how you will... but seriously think about it. This is a “forum” everything is text speak and 100000 people can read what anyone types and interpret it however they want. But when you do it for them and come off all woe is me no one cares about what you say they care about how it’s said and automatically get defensive and miss the point.
