    Betadine antiseptic for snake wound

    Hi all,
Wanda's bump (edit: it's not actually a bump! Just a small wound) on her head hasn't gone down, It's not infected, no pus, no blood, no bone, not hot to the touch, she's not off her food any more than usual, so I'm not too worried, but it is still there so I was looking to get something to put on it to help until she sheds it out. I'm still not sure why she is rubbing, I've taken out all her decor and swapped her hides for smooth plastic, her temps and humidity are fine and she's been offered food so I cant think why she's rubbing. Anyway, I can't get Neosporin in the UK, and upon googling found that Betadine (povidone iodine) should do a similar job... I've found on one ebay that is 15ml and contains 10% povidone iodine. Is that okay to put on her? Do I need to dilute? Does it just go straight on, does it need rubbing in?
    Thanks in advanced!

Re: Betadine antiseptic for snake wound

Betadine does work indeed. Polysporin works just as well, if you can get it.

I once treated a Rescue King Snake, that had been left in over a weekend with a large mouse.
The snake had bites all over it with ine being an open wound, I washed the snake in some warm, almost cold water, and treated the wounds with Betadine straight out of the tube. This was repeated 3 times a day as the snake would rub it off when moving around.

Oh when treating with ointments, keep the snake in a clean tub, on Roller Towel. This so that no unwanted materials and things get into the wound, or stick to the Betadine.

    I hope this helps
