About to order new F/T - caught in middle size wise!

Hey gang - I have a beautiful 8 mos old piebald that is really awesome. His tank is a royal pain in the you know what humidity wise so I ordered a AP T10 about 3 mos ago and it’s going to ship soon! So pumped.

My little fellow eats great - currently eating 1 rat pup F/T every 5 Days and eats like a champ every time. He used to stay in his cool side hide all the time but lately he has been exploring the tank like crazy. His temp is consistently 90/80 degrees. His humidity is a little low at 30% but he just had a perfect shed and I’m just trying to get through another couple weeks til the new AP cage and RHP arrives.

So I’m about out of rat pups - and tbh they seem a little small for him. They are well less than the thickest part of his body. Since he Is growing so fast should I jump up to small rats and skip over weaned? He is a solid 427g but was only 200g in Oct when I got him. Perfect prey is showing their small rats in the 50-89g range.

The other question I had is that he is super white! Under certain lighting I can see red striping under his white...it’s really hard to see on a picture but I’m guessing it’s normal?

Picture - you have to look REAL close to see the red stripes:

Last thing I noticed handling him today was a small red mark...any cause for concern?

    Thanks in advance

    TNK

I would get one bag of weaned rats, which holds 20. Weigh and sort them when they arrive so you can feed off the smaller ones first then the bigger ones as he grows. He will still be fine on weekly feedings.

About to order new F/T - caught in middle size wise!

The Bag I got ( for a friend) were on the smaller side. The weight like you said had a large window of size and i found few I thought were anywhere near 70+.
But thats still a bit large. Its better to be on the small side and safe than order to big..
As far as the Red, my BEL has this also.. Ive seen it in most. Most likely its the fact we can see the vessels/capillaries I would guess.
The red dot looks like a tiny scale snag. They can get red/inflamed a bit. Nothing to concern yourself with unless it is open and then you would treat it.

Personally, since they offer the small 5 packs of weaned I would order one of those, then one or two 15 packs of smalls for a single snake.
I also weigh and sort my prey items when I get them. I bag them in ziplocks of 3 or 4 and then put the small ziplocks into a gallon size zip lock freezer bag. Then I put that inside a Wal-Mart or grocery bag. This helps to find just the size I need quickly while only having to open what I need, keeping the others unopened and fresh.

If you get yourself another snake or three it helps with ordering bulk to help absorb the shipping cost! wink wink!!
