Got my new BP last month. He is about 18". I have him in a 20g long tank with hides on each side and in the middle. I have a large water bowl on the hot side of the tank and repti bark for the substrate. On the hot side I have a heat pad under the hide and a 100w blue bulb on the top of the cage. He has been a great snake...I have fed him 1 live mouse every Thursday and he does not hesitate to eat it, which really surprised me. So I have fed him a total of 3 mice and the next one will be next week. My only concern with him is that he has not gone to the bathroom yet, he did pass some urinate but has not gone #2 yet. Is it normal for a BP to go this long and not poop, he has eaten 3 times now and still nothing???
My other question is that I feel he might be a little cold or dry...I covered up half of the cage with a bandanna and a magazine to try and keep some of the heat and humidity in but not sure that this is working or not. During the day it is about 90 on the hot side and 75 on the cold side. Should I get a bigger light...one that covers more surface space or am I OK. His eyes just turned blue and foggy so I think he is about to shed, I want it to be humid enough for him on his first shed.
Sorry about the long post, I just want to make sure that everything is right for him. (if you cant tell this is my first snake).
