My finding for herpstat and RHP settings in PVC enclosures

Just an observation that might help people trying to determine the best setting for herpstats and RHPs in PVC enclosures.

After fiddling with my arboreal and terrestrial enclosures and the RHPs I have connected to herpstats, I have come to the conclusion that dimming proportional heating works the best to keep the programmed temp constant. I had been playing with pulse and it was not keeping the temp where I needed it and running the RHP too hot and not hitting target temps. I then swapped back to dimming and have seen it now stay more to the programmed temp as well as hit the target goal for surface areas in contact with the radiant heat (there is a +1 degree variance of surface temps to thermostat temp setting but that is actually really good all things considered).

I know pulse was designed to remove humming from metal rack systems with heat tape but I feel it also serves a purpose with UTHs to keep them stable. I use pulse on the heat tape on my terrestrial enclosure and it stays rock solid. The problem is RHPs with probes not attached directly to the heat surface do not work well with the pulse setting. To get the best throughput, dimming, in my observed opinion, is the way to go.

That is all, have a wonderful day
