Skin still stuck on head?
This is my first time experiencing my ball python shed and she didn't have the best shed ever I tried to keep the humidity to 50-65% but it kept dropping. I didn't want the substrate to grow bacteria, but I didn't know what to do back then I'm sorry for my ignorance, I'm still new to owning a ball python and this is my first time seeing her shed. She shed in pieces but she still has the dead skin on her head. (She also has one retained eye cap.) What can I do to remove that? I gently wiped a damp paper towel on her head and she flinched away. Do I have to keep doing this or should I try something else? Is this something they can shed on their own or do I have to assist?

If it is a retained eye cap then you need to assist. That can cause an infection if not taken care of. You can get a hand towel damp and warm and let her slither through the towel. She will rub it off. It will take a little bit. Just keep letting her slither through it over and over until it comes off. Check the end of her tail too while your at it.

This^ works .. just make sure the towel is rough textured and either wet or very damp ... keep feeding the snake through the towel and apply very GENTLE pressure to the head / eye region and the eye caps will come off ..

A microfiber kitchen towel works well if you have one.

The skin is peeling off very slowly, but I can see red under her skin. I'm using a Q-tip to gently wipe off her shed. Any advice?
