    AP T10 - RHP Size

I have my order in place for a AP T10. I was told it'll be about 10-11 weeks before they cut. I went ahead and reached out to bob at PP and gave him the species, tank size, and room temp year round and was told the size below. The room stays about 68-72 year round and is in a main living area of our home. Ali at AP also mentioned she did not think we would need a flexwatt or heat tape to supplement the RHP.

Is this a pretty normal setup for one BP (300-350g) in a T10? I am looking forward to him have a little more room. He loves to explore

    AP T10 - RHP Size

That's exactly what I have in both of my T8s and they work great. Shouldn't need the flexwatt with the RHP. Are you having it sent to AP to install? I'd recommend it. They'll cut channels for the cord at no cost, makes for a very easy and clean looking set up. Post pics once you get it up and running!

I will absolutely have it sent directly to AP. I think they quoted me $98 + $15 shipping but 10% off if paid by check or money order. Can't wait! Here is my little fella doing his best Cobra impression.

Sounds about right - I have 4 T10's set up almost the same way - no need for heat strips/tape. Good luck - you'll be very happy with Ali and Bob.

I did not opt for a flourescent light set up from AP… I think I'm going to pick up one of the LED strip kits from Lowe's that changes colors and just mount that underneath up top… Has anyone done this and if you have it on the white setting does it light up the tank OK? There will be some times where we want it lit up with good light for display purposes not all the time .... anyone using LED color strips for lighting only? If so does the white light provide good lighting in there or is it just kind of a novelty color change lighting…

I need it any my house stays in the 60s in winter. My snake actually really utilizes the hot spot and I don't regret getting under tank heat at all. The RHP does a fantastic job controlling hte ambient temps in the tank so for me having 2 heat sources was a wise decision. I have a tank from reptile basics that is the same size as the T10.

For anyone not using pro products, the RBI 80 watt RHP is the perfect size and wattage for a T10.

That's exactly what I use in my cages. You can get a MUCH cheaper set of lights on eBay or amazon for like $15 though. AP will router a small channel in the top of the cage for an led strip too for $5. Highly recommend that option. I think they can cut either an 8mm or 10mm groove that the lights fit into. Size 3528 LEDs fit the 8mm groove and 5050 fits the 10mm groove FYI, those numbers just refer to the size of the individual LED chips in the strip. I prefer having the color changing LEDs so I can turn on red or blue at night and not disturb my critters too much. They're also dimmable so you can adjust the brightness.

That looks awesome. I'm going to have AP just do a 10mm groove to be safe. Currently using eco earth as a substrate but not sure I love it. It's very bark-like and gets on the FT rat pup a bit when eating. I wonder if there is a cleaner substrate route. I know a lot just use paper but I'm not fond of the look since the display aspect is a goal for us. Any suggestions? Maybe something a little finer as a substrate? Snake is high piebald so I do like the darker susbstrate as a nice contrast for him. Not dead set on it to be dark, just a casual observation.

Re: AP T10 - RHP Size

I've been using coco chips for the last year, year and a half and really like them aside from one recent issue. I started a thread on that yesterday but I won't derail your thread here. Probably similar to eco earth but I've been using Pro Coco chips. Sure a little gets stuck to feeders from time to time but no real issues on that note. Some folks just put down a sheet of paper or cardboard or something under the snake after the snake coils the rat and that seems to help.
Back to your LED options, if you go for the 10mm groove I'd be sure to get the 5050 size LED strip. It will fit super snug in the channel and have no risk of coming loose and exposing the adhesive back of the strip. My 3528 LEDs have been in the cages for a year and a half with zero issues.
