    Betadine For Mouth Rot

Do any of you know about using Betadine for mouth rot? I have a friend who used it for her rainbow boa and had success with it. I'm currently dealing with a snake with it, but I cannot afford to go to a vet and my mother would rather the snake die than pay for vet bills.

People have and do use betadine to treat mouth rot, but really, you need to go to a vet. The problem is without further diagnostics, you don't know if the causative agent is fungal or bacterial, and what strain it might be. You can make an educated guess, but its hard to be certain without further investigation.

Others often use baytril to treat mouth rot with good success. Baytril is a broad spectrum antibiotic. You aren't supposed to do this, but sometimes you can get a hold of it without prescription by searching aquarium or poultry sites as it is commonly used for fish and chicken.
