When do you know to size up your beep's home?

If this has been talked about to death, forgive me!

I've had my beep for about 2 months and she's settled in well. (she's about 3 months old).

I've noticed a couple threads talking about the beeps needing some stretch room. Is there an average size / age that you'd want to move them into a bigger set up? I also ask since Coco is now taking Rat fuzzies and she is sitting up more to get the bigger prey items down, and I felt bad as she was a bit close to the top of her tub as she was swallowing the last of the rat. Am I worrying too much, too early?

I have a tub size up and an exo-terra front opening tank I got gently used from a friend to move her into as she grows.

    Thanks everyone!

I would say once you have about a 6 month to a yearling (could be sooner if you have a good grower) that is eating well and is acclimated you can move them up to a larger enclosure. If this is your only snake I would also highly recommend saving up for a PVC enclosure. Night and day over any other setup short of a rack system. If however you have multiple snakes or are planning on having multiple snakes, I would highly recommend then to save up to either build your own or purchase a rebuilt rack system.

I follow a personal rule, that the length of the enclosure will be greater or equal to the length of the snake. So when mine gets longer than her enclosure I'll know to move her up to a bigger tub.

I think it's usually recommended that minimum size be the length of the snake less than or equal to length and width. I just like to give some wander room lol.

I keep all my snakes in their forever homes from the start, regardless of age or size. To minimize stress on my smaller snakes I will add a ton of hides ,balled up newspaper , and other clutter to give them places to hide. I havent had any feeding problems and this saves me space and money by not having to constantly upgrade.

If you have just one or even a couple I would save up for a PVC, like SDA said.

And remember that for an adult ball python, there is no 'too big' of an enclosure

I follow the same rule which has been mentioned in this thread by other people.

I upgrade to larger enclosure when the length of snake > Width + Length of current enclosure.

My snake is "sized" up enclosure wise on day one of me acquiring it.

My boy Tyson is about a year old and a bit of a slow grower, not quite 600 grams yet. He will be moving from his current 20gallon to a custom forever enclosure with a 4'x2' footprint within the next few weeks
