    Terrarium temp

I’m a relatively new snake owner and I’ve heard a lot of conflicting reports about the temperatures for a ball python. Right now, I have Sarabi’s (my BP, 6 month old, female) warm hide set at 90-92F (UTH with a temperature-control device) and a basking area that I try to keep at around 92F (heat lamp). I try and keep the ambient temp at 85F. Am I doing all this correctly? Thank you.

Warm side seems great. Don't think you need a basking spot. Just a warm side and cool. Ambient can be around 80. So you may want to lower that.

    Re: Terrarium temp

They're all individuals, my guy seems to prefer things a bit on the cooler side. I've noticed he seems to graduate to temps. that are in the mid to low 80's, even while digesting a meal. If you are able, learn what the bottom temperatures are in the areas that your girl spends the most time it will give you a better understanding of what her preferences are.
Do some googling to observe how they live in the wild and this will help you keep her most comfortable. I've seen videos that show wild b.p. being caught out of their burrows etc. but none of catching them out in the open. This SEEMS to indicate they don't spend much time basking in the way other snakes do. I suspect the only time they venture out of their burrows would be after dark to hunt..and whenever possible, I suspect they'd prefer to hunt IN burrows if they can. This is just me making assumptions from the videos I've observed though, I could be wrong.
