What size enclosure for life?

What sized enclosure would be good for a ball python for its entire life? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds!!

Well currently I have a 36X18X18, which is roughly a 40 gallon and from what I've read should be fine for the rest of my beep's life. But I think you can actually go smaller than a 40 gal., plus the height on my tank is probably not necessary at all. I have a lot of clutter and some extra hiding spots in the tank right now because he isn't full size yet.

Im sure somebody with more experience will chime in, as I'm not anywhere near an "expert".

EDIT: in all honesty, you might want to go with something shorter in height. And also, I know this sounds hypocritical but it may be best to just upgrade the tank size as you go, so your beep doesn't feel insecure. If I wasn't on a budget I would've done that myself, so to substitute I added extra stuff for him to hide in (as I said above).

4o gallon with lots of hides and clutter, one large water bowl for drinking/soaking... the hides will need to be updated frequently as the ball grows, like a hermit crab... but as long as you keep the hides tight and the tank full of cover, you can raise a royal for life there.

Well I found a Pvc Enclosure I want that is 36x24x12 and I was told that's the biggest I would need I wanted one that was 48x24x12 and I was told that's a bit big

I don't know the dimensions but it is taller than a T8 by 6". Which makes it better for cleaning and viewing.

Info they gave you is the best.

Bare minimum is that the Length x Width = Snake Length, but ideally we should be offering more than the bare minimum. Males CAN live in 20GL dimensions for their entire life and a lot of people do that without hurting the snake, but if you have resources available anything larger than that for males and larger than 30-40G for females will definitely be used by the majority of animals if you provide enrichment such as more than two hides, activities such as climbing, and ground cover such as fake plants to allow them to move from point A to point B while feeling secure and "out of sight". But having your BP in a 120G? It's gonna be fine (and quite possibly happier for it), as long as you give it adequate places to hide throughout and can heat it correctly.
