We live in a hundred plus year-old adobe. Basically, a dirt house. It badly needed some work, esp. re. the floors. Last week, we completely moved out of three rooms, and had those floors replaced. Would have loved to have had the floors stripped to the original boards, but there wasn't enough left to consider salvaging, so went with a realistic laminate, which actually turned out very nice, and is IN budget.
Thank God we finally got rid of all that icky tattered wall-to-wall carpeting!
The snake vivs all got jammed into the storage room. Since I couldn't plug in heat for them, they just didn't eat for that week. Barely had room to get in there to change waters. Things are finally getting back to normal.
And while the re-hab was in full swing, one of the town's patrol men, the Chief of Police, and Animal Control showed up. Someone found a snake crossing the street in front of the house. No, it wasn't one of mine, but BF told Animal Control we would take care of it. Apparently Animal Control was going to take it away... to where?? I put it in a tub with heat, offered it a mouse which it didn't want, and released later into the yard. Hope it's ok, and stays out sight from now on!
