1.5 year old ball python died unexpectedly
Hi all, my 1.5 years old Mojave died this morning, temps are 95 to 75 humidity is 60 percent. She has been a extremely strong feeder all her life and is around 400 grams, however 2 weeks ago she did stopped feeding, but decided to eat a small mice left in the enclosure at night, after that she hasn't been in her hide or warm side since and while trying to feed around 3 days ago she refused another meal. Upon inspection this morning I found her dead and when I tried to see what's wrong I noticed I could squeeze a lot of policy white pus urate like mixture out of her ben.
Any idea what's wrong please help she is my first ever snake and I'm deeply saddened by it
Thanks

I am so very sorry for your loss. There is nothing like losing a loved pet.
Unfortunately there really is no way to tell you what happened short of you getting an autopsy. If you could afford a vet visit you might gain incite on what happened and figure out how to avoid it in the future. It could be anything from a genetic defect to an infection to a tumor.
If nothing else a autopsy from a vet would give peace of mind.

I wouldn't put much in the stuff you expressed, snakes in a properly warm enclosure begin to rot internally VERY quickly. So it may or may not have anything to do with what killed her.
If you refridgerated the body and could find a reputable vet to do a necropsy, you may find a reason. Without specific information, it's impossible to say what happened.

Random deaths are the worst.

Yup, they are. 8 months ago, my baby died suddenly and I think the worst, besides your snake dying, is not even knowing why they died. Its almost been a year and I still can't bring myself to get another ball python, even though I really really want to.

Really sorry for your loss!! Don't let this turn you away from snakes forever, things happen and sometimes you just can't do anything but accept it.

When I was breeding and had a much larger collection I sadly grew accustomed to random snake death. The more snakes you have to more the odds of it happening. It's one thing when it's a neonate that won't eat. It's another when it's an otherwise healthy juvie or adult that dies on you.
Unfortunately, without shelling out the money for a proper necropsy you can never really know what happened.
