    Rescue Ball Likes his Food

Bobby my rescue Ball really likes his food. This is what he munched through tonight:

    1 small weaner rat

    3 small mice

I tried him with 2 weaner rats. He ate one and turned his nose up at the other. He was still looking for food so I tried him with a small mouse. He went for it like greased lightening and followed up with another two.

He's putting on weight. When I got him a week past Friday, I weighed him. He was 302g. Weighed him again on Friday and he'd gone up to 322g.

Byron, my other BP was 175g a week past Friday and weighed in at 200g on Friday so he's putting on weight steadily too.

If Bobby keeps eating like he is, he'll put back on his weight in no time.

Wow sounds very good especially for a rescue!

Just watch out for obesity (highly unlikely ,but it can happen)

Re: Rescue Ball Likes his Food

He eats F/T - wouldn't let my Pythons eat live. All my snakes have been brought up on F/T. Easier to keep too - just buy them and put them in the freezer. I swear there's more snake food in our freezer than there is our food LOL.

Bobby the Rescue is underweight for his length (about 34"). Byron is still a baby and measures about 20" - 21" approx. Both snakes let me know when they've had enough to eat - they turn their heads away from the food or start moving in the opposite direction. Equally, they let me know if they're still hungry - the rhythmitical flicking of their tongues is a dead giveaway and they sit with their necks in an S shape raised off the floor looking at me expectantly LOL.

The only thing is both BPs have a distinct preference for mice. Byron's moved up to 2 medium sized mice. He's just on the small side to try him on weaners, but I may try him round about Christmas with a weaner. Next week, I'll feed Bobby a weaner and a medium/large mouse and see how he gets on with that.

I will be weighing them both again on Friday. I'm keeping a close watch on their weight, especially Bobby.
