    Is anyone else a mechanic?

Is anyone else a mechanic here? I'm always worried about exposing my snakes to the next toxic chemical of the day so I end up only handling them on my days off. Luckily, I own my own business so I just try to take off the same day every week for a small amount of handling and of course feeding time.

Not a mechanic but hubby is a gunsmith and works on a milling machine, lathe, blast cabinet, etc. so he's handling solvents, lubricants, etc. regularly. He just makes sure he gets really cleaned up before snake-handling sessions after he's been working in the shop.

20+ year A&P, I reload, work on my own cars and play outside with the kids...

Wash your hands with goop or your preferred cleaning agent and of course shower... you should be alright... if you want to make sure there are no chemicals, just lick your hands and see what happens...

Yeah, all through high school I worked on cars with my dad. only thing i can say is get some of that "orange" hand cleaner with the pumice. That stuff not only takes off every little bit of grime and dirt but also 10+ layers of skin lol!
