Humidity really?

So I just watched this youtube video from this guy Brian Gundy from California, and he has kept Ball Pythons for over 20 years and has over 200 of them. But in his video one of the things he talks about is how he never worries about humidity at all unless a snake is shedding or incubation. Other than that he doesn't even monitor levels at all, and all his snakes always have perfect sheds. All he does is mist like crazy when he sees a snake in shed. I'm wondering if anybody else does this? He also said he tries to keep it dry otherwise because of bacteria and protozoa and such. Except for sheds. Who else does this?

His set up might not need to watch humidity if he has a humidifier going in the room or lives in a naturally humid place. I personally would be worried about too dry of air cracking the snakes' lung linings and opening up the opportunity for bacterial RI if left in too dry of an environment for too long.

Thats why it's best to give the ranges needed for temps and humidity and then each person's setup is catered to achieve said temps and humidity. Thats why i find it funny when people say stuff like "RHPs are the best" or "belly heat is the best". There is no 'best'. There is what works to achieve the goal needed for the snake.

I tend to believe the people here who have snakes as pets instead of just to breed as a business. He lives in the east bay of San Fransisco and has been there long enough to know the conditions of his business to not have to constantly monitor humidity. I am sure neither Brian Barczyk of BHB or Matt Gambrel of Olympus Reptiles constantly monitor humidity in their breeder racks but I can guarantee they do in their personal collections.

I say stick with the years of proven advice on places like this forum and keep tabs on the humidity of your snake.

I'm also here in the Bay Area (and have known Brian for almost 15 years); depending on the area there's natural high humidity. Mine averages 60% or so, I don't do anything to monitor humidity and only mist down my ATBs here and there for shed purposes if needed. All my boas and ball pythons shed without issue.

I live in Florida and our humidity is usually fine without extra care but I still monitor it to have peace of mind
