    Re: Heating

As long as your temps are correct at floor level it really doesn't matter if you have lights, uth or both. What ever works.
I use heat cables on the hot side along with a overhead light and just a overhead light on the cool side and it's worked great for 2 yrs.

The problem some have w/ overhead lights is they can lower your humidity.

Yeah I have both. The light and uth on the hot side and no uth on the cool side. I leave the light on all the time and the uth is hooked up to a thermostat. Keeps those temps just right. Only problem with the light on all the time, the humidity level are harder to keep up.

You turn the light(s) off at night, right?

    Re: Heating

All of the above can be used in conjunction with each other as long as they are being used to adcheive the same goal. Not the best way to do it but it can work. What is better if you ahve your animal in a cooler room if to have the uth providing the basking spot and then a lamp or CHE controlling the ambient temps.. This way would require 2 different thermostats though

Yes I forgot to mention I have heatcables and both lamps all on their own T-stats. Actually the heatcables is on a Helix. Works great.

    Re: Heating

Justcage said it! My setup will be similar to that. Except mine will have a RHP controlling ambients and AP Belly Heat providing the basking spot! Both controlled by a Herpstat 2.
