    Acurite's the most popular on the forum (or so it seems). I'm a bit leery about my hydrometer of that brand though, so I'm waiting on some ThermoPro therm/hydros to come in the mail.

    As for the thermostat, you need at least a Herpstat 2 to control two different heat sources. Don't know what the VE equivalent is though.

    Re: Best digital thermometer??

    When I got my Herpstat I noticed they offer a humidistat probe so I contacted Dion at Spyder Robotics....He told me to just get the Xikar because that's what they use to calibrate their units.

    I knew Xikar was the industry leader in monitoring humidors with expensive cigars but never thought to use it with my snakes. Now, I use them in my humidor, gun safes, and snake enclosures - they are spot on. I started with an accuWRONG when I first got my snake because that's the popular model here and it was way off compared to the Xikar.

    The unit Dion suggested....I have a couple of these;

    https://www.xikar.com/popup_pix.asp?...l%20Hygrometer

    I also use 2 of these because I have multiple enclosures...I will caution you though...they share frequencies so sometimes the remote units read on the opposite head unit...but a single unit works great by itself.

    Hope that helps.

    Slight tangent but I'd treat yourself to a digital temp gun as soon as possible . Great for random testing of the warm / cool spots , over heat mats / under hides etc .. usually under 10 quid/dollars.

    I personally just use the Acurite ones and they seem ok. If you are a high roller like Big Ron aka BR8080, then you can bust out with the Xikar ones. They seem pretty awesome.

    And no, a single channel Herpstat cant control both.

    I have both actually - 2 of the rectangular ones and 2 bases with 6 remote units.

    LMAO - high roller? more like OCD LOL I figure I'm using a top tier humidistat with Herpstat why not monitor it with what the company calibrates their units to.

    Like Zincubus said....get yourself a temp gun as well...it does make getting quick temps MUCH easier.

    I have an acurite with one of those battery operated remote probes for humidity nad temp. It works great and i have the display unit hung on a big suction cup from the front glass door of the enclosure. Works perfect for me.

    I think this is the one I use

    https://www.acurite.com/wireless-the...y-sensors.html

    Yeah, herpstat 2 can control two heat sources and provide 2 probes. You can also upgrade to metal probes at the time of purchase for like $2 (going to finally bite the bullet and get a herpstat 2 soon)

    Just for ambient temps, you can't go wrong with this little guy:
