    How to heat animal plastics?

So I was looking into buying the 36x24x12 animal plastics cage for my ball python, but how do you heat them effectively?

I have a cage from pvccages.com currently, and it sits flush against the desk, can you put things under the animal plastics?

you might want to purchase 4 rubber spacers for each corner to create some space between the cage and desk.

What kind of heat matt? Would it be able to transmit through the plastic? Is it safe even if it was a bit elevated?

As long as you have a thermostat (which is a must) it will be able to heat through plastic. Mine heats through both glass and pvc. I think I have mine set to a little under 110 degrees to achieve the proper temps inside the enclosure.

Alright cool, so if I have rubber feet to keep it elevated a bit would I be able to have heat tape or a mat beneath it but still have it stacked on my other cage? they're the same size but he's using a radiant heat panel which makes the top slightly warmer?

I don't have any experiences w/ stacking but I would think you would be fine. Maybe others will be weigh in on this one....

I stack all my AP cages flush with each other and use flexwatt for all of them. It's fine. Now if you are using a RHP on 1 cage, I would put that cage as the top cage. Putting a cage using flexwatt on top of the cage with a RHP is going to give the cage above the RHP false readings whenever the RHP comes on as it will warm the floor of the cage above it.

And if you really want, you can shim the cages using something like furniture pucks. Can find them at pretty much any furniture store. Just non skid little plastic pads.

Go with a Pro Products RHP, I have 4 of them in my enclosures and will be getting more when I expand my collection. Give Bob a call, he's a wealth of knowledge.
