    Snake Escape?

Made you look! Actually, after working from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today I got home and as usual peeked into Kashmire's enclosure, not in the warm side hide, not in the cool side hide, not behind his driftwood....oh no!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't tell me he escaped. Quick glance at the clamps on the screen top, all secure. Look again with panic in my heart.....little goober was on top of his cool side hide camoflauged (sp?) in the greenery!

I looked at him and said "haha Kash, nice way to scare your momma!!!!!" And he had the nerve to stick his tongue out at me! Think he should go into time out? LOL

Sorry guys! I get a little punchy when I get tired. I really DID think he had escaped and was sick! And SOOOO relieved when I saw him just watching me search for him like "silly human, I'm like.....right HERE!!!"

    Re: Snake Escape?

Oh and keep me off of here tomorrow...I'm trying to decide if I go in at 5 or 6 tomorrow morning and we'll be there until midnight or later (we're doing mid-quarter inventory). Should be a fun day, especially since we've all been warned that we might have to be back on Saturday.

    Re: Snake Escape?

Punkin pulled the same thing on us yesterday Robin. She's decided not only to be in her new hide but also to be under her substrate and then further to be under the nice layer of papertowel I put down under said substrate. So...layered...snake...papertowel..substrate...hide! You look into her hide...ya see a hump. Punkin's always been big on burrowing under anything she could get under, haven't a clue why but it did freak me out when I couldn't find her for a second or two.

She's in shed again and hissed at us for the first time last night after I tried to "encourage" her to just use the hide like any self-respecting snake. Her first hiss! Punky's apparently "in a mood" this shed LOL.

Glad your Kash was safe and sound if not being a tad bratty to hide from you like that LOL.

    Re: Snake Escape?

    Joanna,

It's kinda like that rush of adrenaline you get when you have a near miss with another car (like when someone's changing lanes and you're in their blind spot and you have to avoid them hitting you). My heart started racing when I couldn't find him in his enclosure.

Little brat was sitting (ok, maybe not sitting, but laying) there watching this silly human flush red, then strait to white whilst looking for him. I'm sure he was going "look at that pretty blushing on my human! Wonder if the blushing will stay or fade as time passes?"

    Re: Snake Escape?

I know exactly how you feel. My boa did that to me last week; turns out, he was buried under the substrate! I then proceeded to nearly give my boyfriend a heart attack by yelling "Where's Apache!?" He was not fooled for long tho, since his head was sticking out!
