Zilla Jungle Mix (fir/sphagnum peat moss)

Yay or nay? I've looked into different kinds of bedding, am currently using natural aspen, but I have a new and unopened bag of the Zilla mix and I like its look (plus it smells good!)

However, I've read that people have found mites in the Zilla substrate. I was wondering, is there a way to kill any that may be in there? I've heard heat works well.

Additionally, has anyone else tried it?

I use cypress mulch mixed with jungle mix and I like it a lot. Danger seems to like it to. It holds humidity well and no mites thus far.
