Lazy snake??

So the last two times I fed my boy he refused to strike. He poked around but just wouldn't strike. The first time this happened I dropped the prey in and waited. After nosing it a bit, he dragged it into his hide and ate. Then it happened again tonight.

Any idea after almost two years he had stopped striking? He's eating well. And he is given appropriate size prey. Just seemed odd.

My boy started to do something similar a while back. I was feeding him like normal with the tongs but when he went to strike at it he missed. He still seemed interested so I waited, instead of striking again he just sniffed at it a bit then put him mouth around it and proceeded to eat it without striking. Every sense I just put his food in there and he eats it that same way, just putting his mouth around it without striking. My assumption was that after that strike and miss he realized that it wasn't alive and sense then he hasn't felt the need to strike it sense he didn't need to kill it. I don't know if this is the real reason or if it was something else, perhaps its just one of those weird things they just do sometimes but that made the most sense to me XD Anyways he is still happy, healthy and active, it didn't effect anything else about him so I'm fine with it.
