    Heating Question

Hello everyone! Recently got myself a 3 tub C serpents rack. First rack I've had.The temps without paper towels in the tub are running 89-91.5 Using a herpstat intro+ with the probe taped to the side of the middle rack. When I add the paper towels the temp underneath raises a few degrees on each spot. Is this normal? I dont want to to over heat my animals and just wanted to make sure before I place a snake into the rack.

Adding something over a heat source always has the possibility of insulating and keeping heat.

Place a heavy object in the tub over the heat source to represent the snakes weight on the paper towel. Then check the temp under that object to see what your snake will be experiencing. You may find when the air gap is removed the temp stays at the empty tub temp.

As a personal preference none of my hotspots are over 88F and most are 85F.

    Re: Heating Question

I will give the weight a try. Herpstat is set at 90.3 so going down isnt to much of an issue!
