    He's Shedding!

But not on one piece. He got his head off, but he's still solid shed from the neck down and "silvery" looking. I misted him and the enclosure down again.

How long should I give him before I "assist" by putting him in tepid water in the warm side of the hide?

His head is so pretty, and when I picked him up, he started squirming in my hands like "a little help here???????"

He's doing it Adam, he's doing it!!!!! I "bothered" him and shone a flashlight into his hide and he's working it down his body!!! I can't really tell if it's one piece or pieces, but I don't care, he's doing it!!!!!

All I know is my Kashmire is working on it right now and turning so handsome!!! That's MY boy!!!!!

Oh, and how do I tell if he has retained eyecaps after he's done? I examined the pieces of shed I picked out of hie enclosure that were from his head, but I couldn't tell from the little pieces where the eye cap should be. I think I saw one, but the other shed was all dried and I couldn't spread it out to see if it was another round spot or not. His eyes look nice and clear though!

Oh, and another newbie question....are they "tender" after a shed? IE, should I leave him alone for a few days? I would imagine that shedding is a stressful event!

Just because I know you guys have been waiting with pins and needles for an update on Kashmire's shed progress....what? you weren't?

Well, he's all shed except for his last 1/4th of his body! Granted, it's coming off in pieces, but for the portion of his body that's shed so far, it is all coming off! Woo Hoo! What a pretty baby!

Congrats on the full shed Robin! I can't wait to be in a similar position with my new little corn to post all of the exciting news...granted not too many people get excited about little corns around here. Maybe I'll have to dive in and get a bp just to fit in better... (geez, this place rubs off on people...I've only been around for almost 3 months and I want my very own bp morph to call my own!)

Hard to get excited about a snake that you can lose in a pile of lint!

    Re: He's Shedding!

    Wendy,

I just found out that you can't own corn snakes in the state of Georgia. You can own venomous indiginous snakes, but no non-venomous indiginous snakes. Thank goodness BP's aren't indiginous to GA! LOL

Kashmire looks so good now, and I do believe that there's a little bit of blushing on his back now in one spot! I think he's hungry now, and would feed him, but Karl wanted to see him feed next time I feed him....and he fell asleep at 10 this evening.

Kash is much more active now that his shed is done than he's been since his last feed two weeks ago. Of course, I expected at least a two day nap after his feed, but I guess since we were heading into a shed, he just got really lethargic. I guess he's making up for lost time, or trying out his new "clothes"! LOL

I made sure after I removed the shed pieces (that some boys in our complex asked for) that everything was locked down tight. I don't need to add escape artist to my list of Kashmire worries.

I read when you got LB and how he got his name! LOL!

Congrats on your new addition! We'll get you turned over to the BP dark side before you know it!
