Opinions on using a dead reptile's skin for leather?
Do you have an issue with it, would it both you? Would you actually want to do it?
A general assumption in this topic is that the animal died from something other than the owner killing it for this purpose. RI gone bad, age, injury, etc. Something other than for the intent of killing it.

i see no problem with this.
for me i would rather bury the animal instesd
but i think everyone deals with loss in different ways and it is a good idea to do this
if i did this i would hire somebody else to do it for me, because i think like cutting the animal open would really hit hard for me.
but yeah, you do you.

It's a little odd but wouldn't bother me, I guess I sort of like it in a way because they get admired and enjoyed even after death, they aren't using the skin anymore and it is beautiful. But I wouldn't want a pair of snakeskin boots for myself or anything. I don't know what I'd do with it? I saw someone stretching and tanning a blood that had passed and it looked decent tacked on the board so I suppose a display would be fine. I like those shadowboxes with skeletons and would consider having that done, along the same lines. I have a turtle shell a coworker gave me and I know he ate that turtle, but it's fine and displayed in my reptile room.

Re: Opinions on using a dead reptile's skin for leather?
There's nothing ethically wrong with it, but it would really weird me out if someone was wearing or carrying something made out of their dead pet's skin. Like "here's my wallet - it's made out of my dead cat Mittens." I'm not bothered by preserved specimens in general, or turtle shells or whatever - it's the dimension of pet and potential emotional attachment that would make me uncomfortable.

morph leather goods would still seem wierd to me. it's a whole mental thing esp. if it were my own animals. the verdict is still out for me personally.
seems to be no problemo for some peeps tho: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-Skin-Products

I wouldn't mind someone using my bp's skin after she's gone. But I wouldn't want to be the one to do it. And I don't think I would want to keep the leather good that came out of it. But I like the idea of her skin not going to waste
