two quick questions

OK so im used to having Burms and retics in the past but the wife wants something smaller the kids can manage and learn to take care of. I will or a pair on tuesday from a breeder (M/F). Coming from the same breeder I dont need to worry about quarantine correct?

Eco earth...good bedding for baby boas? Would i have to worry about impaction?

Are these the only reptiles you will have in the house? If so you will be fine because if they are the only reptiles. You have no other reptiles that will be at risk from getting something. Since they come from the same breeder. I'm Sure he's going to ship them together, so there's no need to keep them separate when you get them.

I don't like ecoearth but plenty of people do. I like reptichip, plain old paper towels, or aspen. You don't have to quarantine from each other but you do have to from any other reptiles in the house. Paper towels is the best in my opinion until you know if they have mites or not easier to spot them on white.

Boas do get big eventually. Not Retic sized usually but still pretty big.

I understand you want to avoid QT because of the difficulties involved and are getting them from the same breeder. However considering that on any single day you could bring mites in (three tables down at the pet show), I would AT THE MINIMUM treat the new snakes enclosures with PAM and keep them in a different room, recoatibg monthly for 3 months, and then if you want them in the same room move them to the room with the other snakes.

Yes, for other diseases you should be fine, assuming the breeder follows proper QT proceedures for each of their new animals, but mites can and do end up getting in. I am an avid shower and wash clothes after I go to a show kind of person.

As always, substrate depends heavily on the enclosure. Eco earth may work for one person, and for another person be a toxic humidity overload. It depends heavily and is something you have to test. Heck, even in racks, one person may have more air flow, or a drier room and thus eco earth works for them, while another could end up with a drenched snake and mold growth
