    Another Shed Question

OK guys, you've held my hands through everything with Kashmire so far, I could use your advice again.

So, Kashmire's eyes turned gray on Monday (that I noticed) and today his eyes are clearer and his skin looks shinier (sp?), but there is no shed in his enclosure, which from what I've read is the normal progression. So, once the eyes clear back up, how much longer (in general) before the actual shed? (Man, I feel like I'm giving birth! LOL).

I can't wait to meet the new Kashmire!

Hey, if you ever find yourself in the Atlanta area, you're on!

Well, I'm keeping his handling to a minimum (basically moving him so that I can mist inside his hide), misting morning and evening since I have the screen top to keep humidity levels up. Fingers are crossed for a one piece shed so that I can finally get "something" right with Kash! LOL

He moved from his warm side to cool side hide some time last evening while I was on the computer, so I'm hoping he took a little drink on his way! Hate I missed it, I do love to watch him move, he's so beautiful (but then don't we all think our "kids" are the most beautiful? LOL).

Thanks again, Adam! You're the best!

And don't be surprised if my best friend and I plan a trip to Maryland in 2006 or maybe even to Daytona next year! I can dare to dream! hehe!

    Re: Another Shed Question

Jake went through the same exact progression. On Saturday his eyes "greyed" out, and got really pale looking. Then Monday or so, he cleared right back up and looked completely normal. This morning, I noticed his skin is REALLY loose looking and there is skin falling off of his head. YEA! He's in his first shed (since I've had him anyway)

Probably a couple of days or so Robin if Kash is anything like our two. Hope it all goes well and easy for Kashmire (and you!).

We had to soak Baby that first shed to help her since then she's been fine. Punkin got it all off in 3 pieces by herself.

Sounds normal, you got nothing to worry about. I'll bet Kashmire will get rid of that old skin soon. Just make sure the eye caps come off. Another problem area it the tip of the tale. If he does have skin that is still stuck, just take a little mineral oil or luke warm water and rub it on the old skin, it should slide off like butter. Eye caps are a little more tricky, I use a q-tip with mineral oil.

Yeah, just before they shed, the eyes will go clear again. Your snake should be shedding soon! Don't give up on the humidity-upping just yet.)

    Re: Another Shed Question

I'm not giving up on the humidity, still getting misted morning and evening. I swear if I had not seen his eyes so gray on Monday and Tuesday that I would not believe that he's in shed. I'm amazed how clear his eyes and skin are now. And there's no evidence of shed anywhere in his enclosure (I checked, because I just wasn't sure! LOL).

I believe Kashmire came into my life to teach me patience! LOL
