Ambient temperature does it mean in the cool side inside the tub or in the room?

Pros say 85F Ambient. This means in the room right?
But if I do that I get about 89F air temp in the cool side of the tub. My hot spot belly heat is 90-91F.

In my head ambient is the cool side. When we talk about using ambient heat only it is the temp inside and outside the tub. My snake room is on ambient only and ranges between 84 and 88. So if your ambient is actually 85 you don't need a hot spot.

^This^ When people talk about ambient temps it's in the enclosure most of the time where your snake lives snake.

Also agreed if your ambient temp is in the mid 80's turn off the hot spot
