Do you vacuum around your snakes?

Just curious. The reptile room that I just built out has carpet in it. It's in serious need for coconut husk cleanup. Anyone vacuum around their balls and it be okay? Do they complain or anything?

Also, I was watching a Graziani video yesterday and noticed that he changes out the entire bedding when he is cleaning his tubs. I have only ever spot cleaned. Anyone else changes out the whole bedding? Any reason for this? I guess I can do it quarterly.

I have German Shepherds. They shed. I vacuum weekly. The snakes don't seem to care.

Re: Do you vacuum around your snakes?

Yes, I vacuum my carpet without any ill effects to my snakes.

I would spot clean each day and then once a month totally overhaul the tank with a cleaner/disinfectant. That is what I do at least.

I've found plenty of wild snakes chilling hidden next to train tracks. I don't worry about the vacuum.

Re: Do you vacuum around your snakes?

Yep, and when it comes time to do a complete substrate change, I use a shop-vac (with the snake in a holding pen). I do complete substrate changes on an irregular schedule - if my nose says that it's time, substrate is starting to look meh (little bits of shed or other refuse that spot-cleaning can miss, etc.), or when a bunch of non-herp people will be visiting.

I spot clean every day if needed. And I clean the water bowl also every day. I change the bedding and clean every item in the enclosure once a month.
I think it's important to keep as clean as possible because the humidity is so high.

Re: Do you vacuum around your snakes?

Spot clean daily if needed and replace all substrate as needed depending on the snake(my corn snake and retic get cleaned out more often than my burm and boas.)
Also having an Alaskan Malamute I vacuum daily and the roomba goes off every night. Snakes don't seem to mind

My snakes are all in a room with hardwood floors, so no need to vacuum. I can't imagine it would bother them though.

As for cleaning, I spot clean daily/as needed. So almost every day. I also do a full enclosure clean every month or so, but sometimes closer to 6 weeks. This includes complete substrate change. All hides, decorations, etc... cleaned and disinfected, enclosure itself disinfected and then everything else is put back in.

I vacuum weekly and the snakes dont care. My beardie looks at the vacuum when it comes near her cage for a minute or two, then gets uninterested and looks at something else.

I vacuum all of the time with a hand vacuum in the tracks of the sliding doors, so I'm getting very close and they don't mind.

Then every few weeks I vacuum with an old electric Shark Rocket that is even louder than my huge shop vacuum. It's so loud I must wear hearing muffs made for shooting. The snakes could care less.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
