that seems like a true statemaent seeing as how the guy dropped my box when reeses arrived. i told him it was a snake inside and he freaked. i yelled at him signed for it and slammed the door. so maybe the don't deliver if it is alive.........

Re: UPS Doesn't Ship Snakes
Technically, UPS doesn't ship live animals. We still can use their services, however, as long as we're discreet about it. Someone was shipping a snake without UPS knowing it was a snake... except that the snake had other plans.

Re: UPS Doesn't Ship Snakes
Hmmmm, that's interesting. My Kashmire was delivered to me, UPS overnight delivery and his box was clearly marked "Live Harmless Reptile" very prominantly on two side with a "This Side Up".

UPS has a program that allows account holders to ship some species of reptiles if they sign a waiver releasing UPS of all liability. Unfortunately, this program does not extend to any type of snake making shipping snakes via UPS a violation of their terms of service at the national level. Notice that your box was marked "Live Harmless Reptile" and not "Live Harmless Snake" …. sneaky sneaky
Technically, in order to comply with federal shipping regulations, the box should have been labeled with the quantity, species, and common name of it's contents.
FedEx is the only overnight door to door carrier that I know of that specifically has a program for shipping live non-venomous snakes.

According to the corporate attorney I spoke with from DHL when they took over Airbornes operations, as a national policy, DHL will not accept live snake shipments.
And from personal experience, DHL is just about the worst overnight carrier on the planet! ... but that's just me.

Wow, that happened not too far from where I live.
I'm glad that someone from the St. Louis Herp. Society is going to get him.
If I'd heard about that earlier, I'd have tried to adopt him myself.

Adam,
I guess I was responding to this part of her post. Because my box clearly said that there was a live animal, even if it didn't specify snake. So, apparently, UPS does ship live animals, just not snakes if they know that's what it is!
