I have always said, their performance is OSCAR worthy !!!
They are upside down, tongue hanging out, "smelly" even.
Such cool snakes

I gotta say, I have fallen in love with hognose snakes. I'm currently "snake-sitting" for a friend who couldn't get her hoggy to eat. Apparently, the previous owner couldn't get it to eat either, so sold it on craigslist. My friend decided to buy the snake, figuring she has others, she'll get it to eat. No dice!
My friend was told this snake was over a year-and-a-half old when she got him and almost never ate. My friend had him for about 6 weeks (If I remember correctly) and he didn't eat once.
So she asked me to "snake-sit" and try to get him to eat. He came to me March 16, weighing 11 grams, TINY!!!!
Well, with the help of our resident hognose breeder, Deborah, I was able to get his husbandry on point and let him settle in.
I tried to feed him after giving him a week of proper husbandry and he ate first attempt, then again the second attempt, and the third...
Fast forward a bit and he has now eaten six times and has refused zero!!! He's due to eat tonight too. He is now up to 15 grams (still sooo tiny!!)!! He also just had a successful, one-piece shed the other day!!
Anyway, I've been leaving him alone with the exception of feeding, enclosure maintenance, etc.. with the hopes of not growing attached. It's not working!! The little guy is too darn cute!! My friend hasn't been by to see him once, and barely replies when I send texts/pics etc... I've been keeping her up to date with each feeding, his weight, his shed, etc... but she doesn't seem to care very much. I'm honestly thinking at this point she will just ask me if I want to keep him. I'm kinda hoping she does, but we will see. I certainly won't try to keep him, or even ask. But if she offers I won't say no! If she does take him back, Deborah will be getting a hognose customer pretty quick! I am fascinated by these adorable little snakes!
